Kristy Johnson, Executive Director

Kristy Johnson is the Executive Director of the Southern Virginia Higher Education Foundation (SVHEF).  She oversees operations, programs, and strategies, including managing The Prizery.  She manages administration, fundraising, and fund development to advance SVHEF’s mission of enhancing educational opportunities in Halifax County, Virginia and the surrounding area.

Kristy has 20 years of experience in organizational management and 16 years in economic development.  Her skills include strategic planning, event planning, and financial management.  Kristy has served as Mayor of the Town of Halifax, on the Halifax County South Boston Tourism Board, on the SoVA Taskforce, and President of the Southern Virginia Regional Alliance.  She is currently serving on the Community Wide Strategic Planning Committee. 

She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on Management from Georgia Southwestern State University.  Kristy and her husband have three children.
