The Southern Virginia Higher Education Foundation (SVHEF) is proud to announce the scholarship recipients for the Fall of 2025. This semester, the Foundation awarded more than thirty-three thousand dollars ($33,000) in scholarships to over fifty (50) students enrolled at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC).

SVHEF provides a wide range of scholarships for students pursuing various fields of study.  Scholarships supporting any field of study are: Ann Chesley Edmunds Scholarship, Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) Scholarship, Dr. W. Joseph Ferguson Memorial Scholarship, Wilson Memorial Scholarship and The Foundation Scholarship.

Scholarships established for specific fields are: Thomas C. Leggett Scholarship for Business Management, Virginia Penick Estate Scholarship for Education, Hope-Tone Scholarship and Dr. Bill Bell Medical Education Scholarship for healthcare studies.

Fall 2025 Scholarship Recipients:

Steven Adkins received the Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) scholarship.  Adkins is studying Information Technology (IT) networking and cyber security.

Samantha Anderson received the Virginia Penick Estate Scholarship to pursue her career in Childhood Education.

Alicia Coachman, Lakeya Hubbard, and Sophiliah Rasheed received the Dr. W. Joseph Ferguson Memorial Scholarship. Coachman is studying Childhood Education; Hubbard and Rasheed are both nursing students.

Cameron Crews and Rhoad Dean are both business students. Crews received the Live Your Best Life Scholarship and Dean was awarded the Leggett Scholarship.

Charles “CJ” Farley, Destini Logan, and Terrika Wade are nursing students who received the Dr. Bill Bell Medical Education Scholarship.

Kassiti Jackson, Joey Talbott, and Mykayla Vassar are nursing students who received the Hope-Tone Scholarship.  Additionally, Kameron Satterfield is studying science and Shania Torello is studying to become a Medical Office Assistant, both of these women are recipients of the Hope-Tone Scholarship.

IT students Maurico Mckie and Abigail Thomas who are studying science received the Ann Chesley Edmunds Scholarship.

Ashley Clay studies Early Childhood Education and Summer Lewis is a nursing student who both received the Mark T. Trickey Memorial Scholarship by Comfort Systems USA MidAtlantic.

Zachary Jackson and Rex Liggon Jr. are both Information Technology students focusing on Networking and Cyber Security who received the Wilson Memorial Scholarship.

Jacob Lyon, welding student, received the Urban Grid Community Impact scholarship.

Jadon Fountain is studying Graphic Art and Design and received the Ann Chesley Edmunds Scholarship.

Zachary Perkins is studying Computer Science and received the Wilson Memorial Scholarship.

The SVHEF provides scholarship opportunities for Workforce certification programs in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC), Welding, and Information Technology.

Workforce training scholarships include: Mark T. Trickey Memorial by Comfort Systems USA MidAtlantic, J. E. Burton Construction, Old School Car Club, and Urban Grid Community Impact.

HVAC scholarship recipients are: Ty’Quan Graves, Robert Lee, MyQuan Williams received the J. E. Burton Construction Scholarship.

Brandon Day and Jameson Sherman received the Mark T. Trickey Memorial Scholarship by Comfort Systems USA MidAtlantic. Joseph Alvitre and Raymond Chaves received the Elliott Electric, Inc. Scholarship.  Xavier Eubanks received the Old School Car Club Scholarship.

Welding students Zachary King and Malik McCargo, and Barron Scott received the J. E. Burton Construction Scholarship.

Information Technology Students who received the Microsoft Scholars Scholarship are Roland Brandon, Terence Brandon, Cymon Carr, Stephanie Fallen, KaNiece Featherston, Craig Ford, Latoshia Henderson, Jillian Howerton, Latoya Jackson, Patricia Lane, Christin Matthews, Erica Mitchell, and Monica Sydnor.  Nancy Spencer is an IT student who received the Dr. Betty Adams Scholarship.  Both Gerald “Tripp” Burnett and Brandon Hopkins are IT students who received the Foundation Scholarship.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Applications for the Spring 2026 semester are due December 1st.  The SVHEF Scholarship Application is available online at https://svhef.org/ or students may pick up a paper copy located at the SVHEF office.  All applications must include a personal essay, and two letters of recommendation.
